William “Chuck” Ahern
January 14, 1954 – June 21, 2025
William “Chuck” Ahern of Rancho Cucamonga, California, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born on January 14, 1954, to William and Rebecca Ahern (née Gilliland), Chuck spent his early years in Connecticut before the family relocated to Illinois in the 1960s. A natural athlete, he enjoyed and excelled in baseball, basketball, and football throughout his youth. He graduated from Oswego High School in 1972 and subsequently earned his degree from Western Illinois University in 1976.
Chuck married Sara Ahern (née Fowler), in 1977. Together, they built a wonderful life and later moved to Southern California in 1992. There, Chuck worked with The Burke Group for 30 years, a career that allowed him to proudly visit all 50 states.
Chuck was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and love of entertaining. He was happiest cooking for loved ones and spending time poolside with his children—fondly dubbed the “water fin” twins. A lifelong Miami Dolphins fan, he remained fiercely loyal through every season.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Sara; his son, Michael Ahern; his daughter and son-in-law, Caitlin and Tylor Sullivan; his sister and brother-in-law, Billie Jo and Ted Dickerson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rebecca.
A gathering in memory will be held on July 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Healey Chapel, 370 Division Dr, Sugar Grove, Illinois 60554, with internment at Fowler Grove Cemetery to follow.
