Robert Keith Jones

On Wednesday, November 25th, 2020, Robert “Bob” Jones, a loving father of 3 daughters and a friend to many, passed away at 56. On August 25, 1964, Robert was born in Los Angeles, CA, to Robert N. Jones and Wilma LaMaster. Robert left high school early to serve in the U.S. Army at the age of 17. There, he earned his diploma and continued education to become an Air Traffic Controller. He completed his 6 years of service with an honorable discharge.
While serving abroad in South Korea, he met and married Kum “Jo”, Jones. Together they raised 2 daughters, Christie and Rachelle. After the Army, Robert went on to work as an ATC at Oakland Int. Airport, El Monte Airport, Ontario Int. Airport, and finally San Diego Int. Airport from which he retired at the age of 56. He also was an entrepreneur, owning businesses such as Card Zone, a greeting card retail store, and Dalia’s Pizza, a franchise pizza restaurant for several years. After his divorce from his first wife, he married his now ex-wife, Akemy Jones, who raised his 3rd daughter, Asamy.
Bob was an avid athlete. From a young age, he was always active. He enjoyed running marathons with his dad in his youth. In high school, he played almost every sport, including track and football. In his adult years, he played soccer, baseball, and the occasional round of golf. Of all sports, basketball was his favorite. He could often be found shooting hoops on his break with co-workers and playing at the YMCA with friends. He was always more practical than materialistic, but he liked to collect baseball cards and baseball memorabilia. Bob also loved to travel, meet new people, and have fun experiences. Above all, he was known for his patience and generosity, quick-witness, and gentle spirit.
Bob is survived by his daughters Christie, Rachelle, and Asamy, several grandchildren, his father, Robert, mother, Wilma, several siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A viewing and memorial service will be held for Bob on December 20th at 4:00 pm for friends and family. He will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors on December 21st at 10:15 am. The funeral service is limited to 10 friends and family.
