Funeral services for Justin Newby, 37, of Gilmer, will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 22, 2023, in the Chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Brother Todd Kaunitz officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 9:00 am, prior to the service.
Justin was born on February 10, 1986, in Big Spring, Texas, and passed from this life on July 8, 2023, in Los Angeles, California.
Justin graduated from Gilmer High School and was an experienced carpenter. He proudly served our country in the United States Army where he served two tours in Iraq.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Richard and Janice Gage; father, Jimmy Newby (Karen); daughter, Mackenzie Brooke Newby; grandmother, Maria Marsalis; grandfather, Enrique Salazar; grandparents, Lancelot and Shirley Gage; siblings, Richard Gage Jr., Sophia Gage, Mia Gage, Austin Gage, Michael Gage, April Smith (Todd), Jimmy Newby Jr. and Teresa Reeves (Tommy); and many other family members.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles R. Newby; grandmother, June Elaine Beasley; step-grandfather, Bill Marsalis; and step-grandmother, Angelita Salazar.
Pallbearers will be Kralyn Thomas, Alexander Rodriguez, Benjamin Rodriguez, Martin Sauceda, Christopher Salazar, and Mark Salazar.
The family would like to extend an invitation to a luncheon at the Gilmer Civic Center following the interment.
