Evan Kanner

Evan Mark Kanner, 27, of New Paltz, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 28, 2020.
Born September 16, 1992, he was the son of James and Shari Kanner. He attended New Paltz schools and graduated from New Paltz High School in 2010. He was currently attending Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Auto Technology School in California to become a Porsche Mechanic.
Evan was an artistic young man with a beautiful heart, who was able to see things from a new perspective, creating his own clothing brand called “Tread Lightly”. His vision was for the line to go beyond the threads themselves, to create a theme and meaning behind them. He was an avid skateboarder and enjoyed photography and drawing. He was loved by so many friends and family.
Evan is survived by his parents, James and Shari; his brother, Eric; his grandmother, Barbara Robbins-Bresnan; his grandfather, Jack Robbins; his grandfather, Sy Kanner and his wife, Didi; his uncle Mitchell Robbins; and Evan’s newly found family, his great uncles, C. Dale and Paul German.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday March 14, 2020, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Novella’s New Paltz, 2 Terwilliger Lane, New Paltz. Anyone who likes is invited to share memories of Evan at 2 p.m., with Police Chief Joe Schneider acting as moderator.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that one support local efforts for those who may be struggling, by sending a donation in Evan’s name to the Town of New Paltz- Community Education, P.O. Box 550, New Paltz, New York 12561.
